Magpie BMS supplied and installed Trend IQ5 Controllers to replace the legacy IQ3Xcite controllers which date to 2004. This was carried out at Sidcup Leisure Centre as part of Lex Leisure’s Life-cycle Policy. Our team kept downtime under two hours for each plant by careful management of a gradual introduction of change over each plant onto the new system. Trend Control Systems IQ5 Replacement
- The control system manages the operation of the boiler plant, swimming pool controls, domestic hot water, space heating and seven air handling plants.
- We supplied, installed and programmed, Trend IQ5 controllers to replace the original IQ3Xcite controllers dating to 2004.
- The two existing control panels, in the boiler room and at roof level, were retained and modified to accommodate the new controllers.
- The software strategy was developed in consultation with the Energy and Sustainability Manager for Parkwood Leisure who run the centre on behalf of Lex Leisure (Bexley Council). This has enabled the optimum method of operation of the plant going forward.
- Each control panel has been fitted with a 9” touch screen which enables the end user to monitor and adjust parameters on either panel.
- The original Trend 963 BMS Supervisor package has been replaced with IQVision, with remote monitoring facility.
Special Considerations
A key consideration in carrying out these works was to minimise downtime of any particular plant to a maximum of 2 hours. This was achieved by gradual changeover of each plant system onto the new controllers.
